Enrollment Selection for 2nd Trimester/2020-21 School Year

Submissions Open Through October 23

Tiger Nation:

The end of the first trimester is in sight and as we look toward the beginning of the second trimester, it is time to start making decisions on the academic pathway in which you would like to enroll your child.  We know these decisions can be difficult and want to provide you with as many resources as possible to make the most informed decision possible for your family.  We are providing you with a link to complete an enrollment survey for the Second Trimester at the end of this message.  You will only need to complete the survey if you are choosing a different academic option for your child beginning the second trimester.  In an effort to help you make this decision, we want to provide a few numbers for you regarding Covid-19, Virtual Learning, and Flex Lab options.

Covid-19:  As of October 12, we have had 17 total cases that have been reported and confirmed through the Health Department.  Those 17 cases resulted in a total 221 individuals (students/staff) being quarantined.   To date, none of the individuals that were quarantined as a result of a positive case on campus have tested positive due to an exposure at school.  Our students and staff have done a great job in keeping all Covid-19 cases contained.  The winter months are always a challenge with sickness, and this year will have even more complexity.  But, working together, under the advisement of the Health Department, we will do all we can to make it a safe and successful trimester.

Full-time Virtual:  This option is working great for some and is more challenging for others.  We always want to be clear, there is no replacement for in-person instruction.   Our virtual platform is constantly evolving and we want to see our success rate grow.  Currently, our success rate is far greater than other virtual charter schools but still lower than our traditional option.   Please inquire with our principals on how virtual works in each building if you have questions.  Each building does operate a little differently, as they should, in an effort to meet the pedagogical and age-appropriate needs of each student.

Flex Lab:  Participation for this option has been very low.  This option is available to help meet extenuating needs for families, and we encourage you to consult with your building principal before selecting this option.  We want you to ensure this is the best path for your circumstance.

We will be making staffing decisions based on the academic path you choose,  so please spend the next few weeks consulting with teachers and administrators about the best option for your family.

Thank you for your patience, support, prayers, and for letting us serve your child!
As always, never hesitate to call if you would like to discuss options, successes, or concerns with moving forward.

Scott Farmer
Superintendent
